Ways to Volunteer

Preparing and Serving Meals

Come with your family, friends, or church group and help our chefs prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Learning Center

Tutor students in reading, writing, math and history classes; help with GED preparation, computer literacy, resume guidance, employment readiness and even virtual reality learning.

Clothing Ministry

Sort, tag, and arrange clothing and household items in our clothing center. All items are given away free of charge to those in need in the community.

Free Medical Clinic

Health care providers, nurses, and pharmacists are always needed as we provide medical care for the homeless and uninsured. The Clinic staff is also in need of volunteers who can translate Spanish, French, and many other languages for our non-English speaking patients.

Indoor/Outdoor Maintenance

Help keep our buildings and grounds looking pristine. This includes planting flowers, yard cleaning, painting, construction projects, and more.

Chapel

You can provide a pastor, speaker or musical group from your church to bring the wonderful message of hope in Jesus Christ to those who feel all hope is lost.

Administration

Help our administrative staff with various office jobs such as mailings (i.e. quarterly newsletter, thank you letters), phone calls, and computer work.

Special Events

Volunteers are always needed for various holiday preparations and other special events (Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas, backpack giveaway party, etc). Activities may include decorating, preparing/serving holiday meals, helping in the Holiday Cafe and more.

Recovery Programs

The participants in our recovery and discipleship programs are sometimes in need of extra assistance such as counseling, transportation, or child care. Additional application and background check may be required.

How to Volunteer

First, you register…

  • For your safety and our efficiency the Mission must have all volunteers registered and pre-scheduled.
  • Individual volunteers can register themselves online on the Volunteer Hub or by calling the Volunteer Coordinator at 518.462.0459 x237.
  • Groups who want to volunteer must call the Volunteer Coordinator to register.

Second, you tour…

  • After you are registered, whether you are an individual or a group, contact Volunteer Coordinator, Hope to schedule a tour. Her information is above.
  • Read the Volunteer Guidelines on the first page of your account before taking your tour. We will answer all your volunteer questions while we tour.

Now, you volunteer…

  • After your tour, the volunteer coordinator will mark your account “approved” and then many more volunteer opportunities will appear on your calendar. Click the event on the day you wish to serve. It’s that easy!
  • After your group’s contact person has toured, he/she can phone the Volunteer Coordinator to sign up once, once a week, or once a month, or twice a year, etc.
